About Cuyutlan
Cuyutlan is poised to become the next eco-friendly area along Mexico’s beautiful Pacific coast. Its long expansive black sand beach is one of a kind. The area is bordered by an enormous lagoon filled with birds and crocodiles. At the end of the road is “El Tortugarco”, the non-profit turtle sanctuary. For many years Cuyutlan was a Mexican tourist destination. Changes politically refocused development elsewhere and reshaped Cuyutlan’s future. If you’re looking for serenity off the beaten path then Cuyutlan is the place for you. Cuyutlan will never be a Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta, or Acapulco. Our vision is that it will remain a retreat and a respite from the everyday world. A place where you can walk along the beach, spend time with your family, and have a sense of seclusion. If this is what you’re looking for then Cuyutlan is the place for you!

More Abut Cuyutlan...
Cuyutlan is a small town with the slow pace of an earlier era. It has a long quite beach that goes on for miles. Sea turtles nest here during the rainy season from mid June through October. Air temperatures range from the mid 70s to low 90s year round. There is a small but growing number of friendly ex-pats that have recently discovered the area. Some truly nice homes are starting to dot the seascape. Cuyutlan is located 62 km east of Manzanillo. This picturesque place has a nice beach where, in the months of April and May, (the high tide season), you can admire the great "ola verde" (green wave). This beach is ideal for surfing. Cuyutlan is a small, antique resort, unique in pacific Mexico. It began as a beach heaven for upper and middle class Guadalajarans when Porfirio Diaz’s government pushed the rail route through around 1900. Some of the old porfirian-era hotels remain, as do the quiant wooden walkways to the unbrella=festoon beach. The town has a number of claims to fame, notably a mysterious giant "green wave", a salt museum that keeps cuyutlans ancient salt-havesting tradition alive, and a latter day turtle sanctuary and eco-education center. el parasio, a more typical, but nevertheless relaxingly lovely mini-haven for lovers of sun, surf, and sand is a few miles southwest, along Cuyutlan’s long dark-sand strand.
